Principal's Message

Mrs Kaileen Carr

I would like to start by thanking the parents and carers who attended our Numeracy Parent forums on Tuesday night. It was lovely to see so many of you. Numeracy is a big focus for student learning at Eglinton and we appreciate your support.

On Wednesday morning four students from Eglinton had the opportunity to give the Acknowledgement of Country at the Regional North and West School Performance Directorate Summit at Rydges. The students are wonderful leaders in our school and are members of the Junior Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG) representing our school. These students will also represent our school at the Junior AECG meeting on Friday at Raglan PS.

Walk Safely to School Day - Tomorrow Friday 19th May is Walk Safely to School Day. Bathurst Police will be present at our school in the morning welcoming students as they arrive at school. The Western Advocate will be here taking photos for the paper and Prime TV will be filming for the local news.

COVID 19 - Currently we are experiencing a lot of COVID 19 cases across our school with both students and staff testing positive. Please ensure your child remains at home if they have any flu like symptoms. Staff will also remain at home if they are displaying symptoms to keep your children safe. This will protect us all. If you need any supplies of RATs please contact the office and the they will send tests home with your child. If your child tests positive please notify the school and your child will be marked as sick on their class rolls. I will keep the community informed throughout the winter season of any updated guidelines.

Communication - We have had some really positive feedback about the use of the Sentral Parent Portal to communicate various school events and important information. We will use this to keep you informed about a range of school activities that are happening throughout the school. In some cases we will need to send notes home mostly when there is permission notes to be returned. The Portal calendar and Newsletter calendars are regularly updated with events. We are aiming to get important dates to you as soon as we can, so you are able to organise work etc to be able to attend. Please contact the school if you have any further feedback so we are able to better support our community.

District Cross Country - Congratulations to all the students who attended the Bathurst District Cross Country last Friday. All the students represented our school with pride and displayed great sportsmanship. The following students will represent our school at the Western Region trails at Gosling Creek on Wednesday 14th June - Matilda Chapman, Anabel Astridge, Phoebe Hemming, Fiona Radstone, Matilda Collett, Rhys Simmons, Blake Simmons and Brandon Clifford. We wish them all the best!

Correct Uniform - Students are encouraged to wear the correct uniforms at all times. The uniform identifies students as belonging to Eglinton Public School. Students are not to wear Eglinton Eels caps and jumpers to school.

Eglinton Public School attendance as at 18th May 2023

Last Week: 92%

This week: 91.6%

Goal: 95%

You can check your child's attendance rate on the Sentral Parents App. Click on their photo, select 'Student Details' and click on 'Attendance'. Our expected student attendance rate is above 95%. To maintain an attendance rate of above 90% a student should have no more than 5 days off a term.

Thank you for supporting us in reaching our attendance goal. The data above shows our current student attendance for the last week. Please ensure you contact the school via the Sentral Parent Portal if your child has a day off to explain their absence.
