Performing Arts

A date for your diary - Tuesday 25 July is our concert day!

School concert and WAKAKIRRI

Our 2023 Performing Arts concert is happening in early Term 3 on Tuesday 25 July - we will offer both a matinee and evening performance. Students across Prep - Grade 6 have all been busy learning songs and creating dance moves for their own items. It will be a very special experience with so many choices made by the students. We will have more information in the coming weeks about times, ticket booking and costumes.

If any parents are interested in helping to sort and allocate costumes or assist with the music/sound and printing of programs please let me know Sarah.Bailey2@education.vic.gov.au

For now, enjoy these rehearsal photos....

Grade 5 and 6 students will present their special "Wakakirri" item at the concert as well as then going on to perform it on a big stage as part of the National Wakakirri competition. Linda Zanatta is coordinating Wakakirri and students are practising in Performing Arts class as part of their curriculum (and a lunchtime each week). Wakakirri Story-Dance is a 3-7 minute performance that theatrically tells a story using any combination of dancing, acting, creative movement, sets and props, costumes, projection, and pre-recorded music. Grade 5 and 6 students from ACPS will be performing in front of an audience between 1-3 August, with many other schools from across the region. Finalists then progress to Award shows and National performances later that term. (Wakakirri is an indigenous word for 'dance' in a NSW dialect).

Choir

We have invited the Warrandyte Kinder 4 year old class to come up to visit us on Thursday 15 June at 10am-10:30am in the Theatre. The students are quite excited to sing their known songs as well as a couple of tunes targeted at the younger ages. Here is a picture of the choir enjoying some free-choice music with our new ribbon sticks.
