Principals' Message

Hello Parents and Friends,

Happy Education Week!

We have had a wonderful week celebrating Education Week here at TPPS.  This year’s theme is ‘Active Learners: Move, Make, Motivate’, which celebrates physical activity, hands-on learning and student voice in education.  On Wednesday we had hundreds of visitors to our school during our Open Morning and Night.  Within each classroom we exhibited our hands-on learning approaches to Maths learning.  It was fantastic to see our students and families working together to solve maths problems from Grade Prep-6. Our Specialist teachers highlighted how they engage and empower learners in their programs.  There was some serious athletic drumming going on with a ‘Cardio Drumming’ in the Performing Arts room, Chinese plum painting in the Visual Arts room and a spectacular paper plane competition in the STEM room.  By visiting every classroom, families collected stamps on their Education Week passport to make the word ‘Movement’.

All completed passports went into the draw to win a $50 Westfield Voucher and we are

pleased to announce the following winners!

  • Lipshutt family (Major winner - $50 voucher)
  • Tamaddon family (consolation winner)
  • Khoo-Sawell family (consolation winner)
  • Zhen family (consolation winner)
  • Zad family (consolation winner)

Congratulations to all these families!

We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate and thank everyone that makes TPPS such a successful learning community. We are so privileged to have such talented and passionate teachers, students and families.  We have so much to celebrate at TPPS during the 2023 Education Week.

2023 TPPS Writers’ Festival – Awards Night

Last Thursday we held the 2023 Writers’ Festival Awards Night in the Library.  After hosting a fantastic Writers’ Festival throughout the week, our Awards Night really topped it off.  We had over 100 students and families in attendance as we presented our winners with their certificate and shared some of the amazing pieces that they had written. The award winners will now have their pieces professionally published in the collected works of the festival.

Throughout the week, all students participated in a writing workshop with author/illustrator, Martin Chatterton and selected students with New York Times, USA Today and Amazon Bestselling author, Adam Wallace. Both presentations were absolutely amazing and our students learnt so much from these highly talented professional authors.

Congratulations and thank you to our teachers and students for their outstanding pieces that were on display last week.  The quality of our students writing is truly exceptional and we are so proud of the hard work of our students.

A Taste of School (Preschool Program)

Our first of two ‘Taste of School’ sessions for children commencing Prep in 2024 took place on Tuesday and it was a great success. Our young visitors experienced either a Visual Arts session with Ms Sumner or a Sport class with Mrs Barry. The children had a wonderful time and were so excited to be attending ‘big’ school.

At TPPS, we have one of the most comprehensive Prep transition programs in Victoria. Taste of School will continue for its second session next Tuesday. As well as this, our Young Einstein’s STEM and Sustainability sessions will take place in Term 3 before our formal Transition program commences in Term 4.

Please contact the school office if you would like more information.

2023 NAPLAN Results

We have been informed this week that the NAPLAN results for Grade 3 and 5 students will be released by mid-late July 2023. Hard copies of student reports will be distributed to the families of all students who completed the NAPLAN 2023 tests. We will inform families when we receive the results.

Coats for Kids

Our PFA and St Kilda Mums have organised a very special collection to assist families in need in Melbourne.  The Coats for Kids initiative collects warm coats / jumpers / jeans that your child has outgrown in sizes 2-16. All items need to be freshly washed, in good condition with working zippers, no rips or stains.

We will be collecting them from the school office from May 15th - 26th.

Have a fantastic weekend!
