Kindergarten

Kindergarten had a fantastic time enjoying their teddy bear picnic celebrations last Thursday! As part of our celebrations, Kindergarten got creative and made some teddy bear picnic inspired artwork. For the artwork's picnic rug, students worked on weaving paper. We used strips of white paper and practiced weaving it 'over and under the slits in the square red paper. To create the teddy bear sketch, students had to carefully follow step- by - step instructions provided by Miss Fraser. Well done Kinder! Miss Fraser

Year 1

This term in History, Year 1 students have been learning about personal histories. They looked at a video of a family reunion and realised that ‘family’ was more than just mum, dad, brothers and sisters. They then learned how a family tree is used to show the many family members someone has. Students then attempted to draw their own family trees. Great job Year 1! Miss Myers

Year 2/3

This week Year 2/3 have completed our first Creative Arts activity for the term. This term in our History unit, Community and Remembrance, we have been learning about the use of flowers as symbols for important days of commemoration and celebration. This includes the symbols used at the state and national levels. During our learning, we discussed the Poppy flower as a key symbol in both ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day commemorations. This inspired us to create a printed image using a range of materials including potatoes and leaves. Fantastic work Year 2/3. Mr Beaumont

Year 4

This week, Year 4 have been learning how to write an engaging introduction for a narrative. The students needed to make sure that they have a sizzling start by using either a sound, dialogue, description or an action and to leave the end of the introductions on a cliffhanger. They have been provided with a variety of stimuli to base their introduction on, whether it be a photo, short video, or sound. The students have thoroughly enjoyed writing their introductions. Next week we will move on to learning how to write body paragraphs (pebble- small problem, rock- bigger problem, boulder- huge problem).

Fantastic Work Year 4! Keep Working Hard! Miss McDonald and Miss Maunder.

Year 5/6

This week, Stage 3 has been learning to write a review; exploring the structure to follow, the key information needed and engaging language to use. Students chose their favourite book and wrote a review describing the book, who it was suitable for and why they would recommend it to others. Their reviews concluded with a rating out of 5 stars. Students loved sharing their reviews with their peers and discovering different books to read in the future.

Stage 3 have also been having fun exploring angles in Mathematics this week! Students learned about the different types of angles such as acute, right and obtuse. They also learnt how to measure angles using a protractor. We practiced using a protractor by measuring different angles created by tape on our desks in our classroom. Students even guessed what the measurement would be before using a protractor to get the exact measurement. Amazing work Stage 3! - Miss Summerell & Miss Rasche
