Catholic Schools Week
Week 5 Sunday 21 - Friday 26 May is Catholic Schools Week. The theme for this year’s Catholic Schools Week is Renew With Hope. As we take time to celebrate all of the positive things happening in Catholic Education and especially for all the positive things happening here at St Michael’s, we can look towards the future with hope in our hearts. On Thursday 25th May Stage 3 students will travel by bus with Mrs Underwood, Miss Rasche, Miss Summerell and Mrs Catlett to Saints Mary and Joseph Cathedral in Armidale to join with students and teachers across the Armidale Diocese in the Diocesan Mass celebrating Catholic Schools Week. Thank you to everyone who has consented online via the Compass platform. Consent is due Monday 22nd May.
The Ascension
This Sunday 21st May we celebrate The Ascension when Jesus ascended into heaven.
Pentecost Sunday
On Sunday 28th May we celebrate Pentecost Sunday when the Holy Spirit came down upon the Apostles and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, receiving the gifts they needed to continue the work of Jesus. This is why Pentecost is referred to by many as the birthday of the Church.
Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Eucharist
Later this term we will commence preparing students in Year 2 for First Reconciliation to be celebrated on Wednesday 28th June and the students in Years 3 and 4 for First Eucharist on Sunday 30th July 10.00am. In preparation for these sacraments, parent information sessions will be held on:
First Reconciliation: Wednesday 31st May (time to be advised)
First Eucharist: Wednesday 14th June (time to be advised)
Whole School Mass
Our next whole school Mass is 9.30am Friday 2nd June. Everyone is welcome.

Laudato Si’ Week
Laudato Si’ Week is celebrated 16 -24 May in Australia and 21 -28 May Internationally. Laudato Si’ subtitled Care for our Common Home is the second encyclical written by Pope Francis and calls us to hear the cry of the earth and the cry of the poor and to recognise the connection between the two, for it is the poor who are most impacted be the devastating effect that pollution is having on our world. During Laudato Si Week we especially encourage everyone to take time to reflect on how you can make a positive difference through caring for our common home. This may include reducing waste, recycling, using a refillable drink bottle and keepcup, planting more trees, growing your own vegies, getting outside and taking time to enjoy the beauty of creation…the possibilities are endless. We will be celebrating Laudato Si’ Week at school next by taking time to celebrate creation outside in our classes and especially celebrate the positive impact our school and especially our environmental champions are having on our world.
