Grade 3/4 Students

Celebrating our tremendous Threes and fabulous Fours!

Integrated

The 3/4 students enjoyed an exciting adventure in the city in Week 6 to experience the Immigration Museum, as part of our ‘Come From Away’ unit. They enjoyed taking part in an Education Session, where they became historians and analysed different artefacts. They then spent time in the museum, immersing themselves in the stories of those that make up our multicultural society. They were also able to walk across Sandridge Bridge and see some statistics on the different nationalities – definitely try to get there and check it out if you haven’t already done so!

Literacy

Students have continued to work hard on their Information Reports and have spent the last week writing their own texts about Whales. Students had to take a number of notes to gather information, then they had to choose appropriate subheadings and ensure that their paragraphs were clear and concise. The results were fantastic and they will now use their expertise to write an Information Report related to our Immigration Integrated topic.

Maths

Students have been embracing the many strategies we can use to solve subtraction problems and linking it to what they have learnt about addition. Importantly, students are improving their understanding that there is not necessarily ‘one way’ to solve a problem – they just need to find the right ‘tool’ for them! This means that they have been practisiting subtraction on a number line, as well as solving vertically. They’ll be moving on to using these skills to solve worded problems soon.
