Celebrating our outstanding Ones!
English
We went back in time, immersing ourselves in the olden days experience with our trip to Bundoora Farm. Students then wrote a recount about their favourite part, publishing their writing on parchment. We have also continued our Big Writes, with some amazing stories about being sucked into video games!
In Reading, we have been looking at non-fiction texts and the different features they have to help us find important information. We have also continued our word work with a focus on adverbs and the way they add detail to a verb, like how, when or where.
Maths
Grade 1s have started learning about subtraction, and the concept of taking away. We have subtracted with pirates, and got a lot of energy out playing ‘Subtraction Smash’. We have been familiarising ourselves with the idea that when we subtract ‘We start with a lot and end with a little.’
Wellbeing
We have continued our Respectful Relationships and Resilience Project lessons, thinking about gratitude and sharing what we are grateful for. This has been amazing to hear the range of things, from our loving families to cake and chips!
