Student Led Clubs

Our school is extremely proud of the extracurricular clubs and programs we offer to students.  Many families are aware of our formal opportunities like Art Academy, Choir, Helping Hands (Playground Pals), Rock Band, Library Club and Indonesian Club.  These are facilitated by teachers with the support of the student captains.

A highlight of my week is when I meet with students who would like to run their own student-led club.  This week I visited Year 1 Teddy Club – I was privileged to hand out the awards for Cutest, Fluffiest, Most Loved, Best Accessories, and more!  I also enjoyed meeting a group of students who are starting their own Netball Club. They are busy preparing a proposal articulating the club’s timeframe, if an adult is required to help supervise, which year level it’s for and how long it will go for (clubs that require adult support are limited to ½ recess or lunch and for a maximum of six weeks). 

OSHC Fee Increase

Last month our OSHC Committee and School Council collaborated to determine an OSHC Fee increase of $2 in the morning and $3 in the afternoon. The fee increase is the first since this time last year. The timing of the fee increase, effective from 10th July, is in line with the Federal Government’s changes to Child Care Subsidy. 

When considering an appropriate increase, the OSHC Committee and School Council considered a number of factors including: 

• the out-of-pocket expenses for families relative to the changed rebate structure and schedule, 
• the increased expenses associated with inflation and wage increases, 
• the tax implications for some families who, according to our forecasting, would have tax implications as the fees were lower than the rebates, and
• the comparative pre-CCS fees of the OSHC services in the immediate area: 

No changes have been made to Vacation Care’s daily base rate.
