16 Days of Activism at OLHC

Each year, Respect Victoria supports organisations and individuals across Victoria to engage in the UN Women’s 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. This year is no different, and activities, campaigns and events will be happening throughout the state from Thursday 25 November, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women to Friday 10 December, Human Rights Day.

During these 16 days at OLHC we will be making changes to the outdoor playing spaces, COVID friendly, with opportunities for all children to enjoy mixing with other children on the playground, using spaces that are not usually their playing area.

Along with this, we received a $550 grant from the Nillumbik Council to purchase books and games for all or our children to enjoy together. These will be made available each recess and/or lunchtime for all children to read and play with in a passive play space in the Community Centre. A couple of classes have had a trial run with these new games, toys and books over the last few days. These were fun times!

Thank you to the Year 3/4 children who spent their lunchtime today preparing our school by making posters and putting them up around the place. There will be more information about this in next week’s newsletter.

Best wishes
