First Eucharist

Things are well and truly under way as we have celebrated two Masses including First Eucharist these past two weeks. Such a special occasion and we look forward to our third Mass of First Eucharist next week.

Confirmation

We are so grateful to have completed two Masses of Confirmation over this past month. This is such a special time as our Grade 6 students complete the last Sacrament of Initiation into the Catholic Church. We are so grateful we got to share this experience with you.

Baptism

Two of our students were Baptised over weekend - such a special occasion! They have worked hard to prepare themselves for this day. We thank the families and godparents in attendance for the prayerfulness you brought to the service.

Advent

Advent comes from the Latin word meaning "coming." Jesus is coming, and Advent is intended to be a season of preparation for His arrival. While we typically regard Advent as a joyous season, it is also intended to be a period of preparation, much like Lent.

Advent is a special time in the church year when we prepare and get ready to celebrate the birth of Jesus. Each week during Advent we will be reminded of the importance to prepare our hearts for Christmas. It is a time to think of what gift to give others this Christmas.

Each week during Advent, students will have the opportunity to share in an Advent Prayer Service in their classrooms. The prayers, readings and responsibilities will be shared amongst peers to enable active engagement.

Week 1 (Sunday 28 November) – Hope

God of Hope, Thank you for always being patient with us. You help us to have hope for the future. Please help us to patiently wait in this season of Advent. We pray for our brothers and sisters around the world, like Maria and her family, who are hopeful for an opportunity to learn and build a better life. May we always appreciate the gift of water. In your name we pray, Amen.

Week 2 (Sunday 5 December) – Peace

God of Peace, Thank you for filling us with your peace. We ask for your help to be peacemakers in all that we do. We pray for more peace around the world, wherever our sisters and brothers face emergencies or disasters. Help us to live in harmony with our environment. In your name we pray, Amen.

St Vincent De Paul Giving Tree

This Advent, we will be setting up our annual St Vincent De Paul Giving Tree. This year we will be asking families to donate vouchers instead of gifts to maintain our COVID Safety with members of our wider community.

I thank the Grade 6 Social Justice Leaders in advance for their leadership of this event. Watch this space as we get things up and running and send out an Operoo early next week.
