BOOK WEEK

Book Week is happening next Wednesday at COHR! Even Lockdown 6.0 can't stop Book Week! 😋 Students are asked to come to school dressed as a book character or a character that fits with this year's theme, "Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds".  We will have parades in our levels and participate in some activities to celebrate books and the pleasure we get from reading.  Photos will be shared from the day via our normal channels.

Overdue Library Books

Now that we are back at school, could I ask that you have a good look at home for any of our library books and even some of our cloth library bags.  We have a lot of overdue books and I understand that with lockdown they may be shelved in not the normal place at home - under beds or on other shelves.  When student's forget their library bag, we do have some cloth ones that they can borrow - unfortunately we are missing many of these.  We would appreciate if, on finding any books or bags, that they are returned.  Thanks

PRC - Premier's Reading Challenge Victoria.

Congratulations to 98 of our students that completed the Premier's Reading Challenge in 2021.  These students read a total of 4243 books!  This was a fantastic effort by our students.  We are awaiting on certificates to be sent out for these students.

Scholastic Bookclub at COHR

Thank You to those families that have continued to purchase books from Scholastic Book Club, particularly during online learning.  Every time there is a purchase, our school receives rewards for us to purchase books for free.  Thank you!

Peregrine Falcons in Melbourne CBD are back for 2021.

We have enjoyed watching the peregrine falcons that have once again nested high up in Collins St Melbourne.  After 4 eggs were successfully hatched at the beginning of October, we watched the progress of the 4 fluffy eyases (floofs).  Early this week, two have fledged and we await the last two to fledge.

Since 1991, a pair of Peregrine Falcons has been observed in a nest on the rooftop of 367 Collins Street. As home to the only known peregrine falcon nesting site within Melbourne's CBD, the building plays a surprisingly important role to the ongoing breeding success of these rare and fiercely territorial birds.

We look forward to tuning in again next year.
