Back at the College

  The College welcomed back...

Samantha Hargreaves -

Class of 2015

On Tuesday 17 August, the Year 11 students gathered virtually on Zoom for an Assembly centred around the 2022 College Leadership process.

The Student Leadership positions include College Co-Captains, SRC (Student Representative Council), Community Action, Living Justice, Health and Wellbeing, and Sustainability Leaders.

The guest speaker for the event was past pupil, Samantha Hargreaves (Class of 2015), former College Captain and current singing teacher at the College.

Samantha spoke about her personal experience in the field of leadership. She was a wonderful presenter and reinforced to the students that they all have potential to be leaders. She spoke about leadership being a rewarding experience and encouraged all students to take part as they could gain and learn so much from it.

Samantha is such an inspiration to many students at our College and recently spoke to the VCE Drama students on the process she undertook for creating her successful solo performance at the College to help those students prepare for their solos. Samantha is currently completing her Masters of Opera Performance at the Melbourne Conservatorium and is also a music tutor at the College, teaching Voice.

Year 12 Inspire Day

With the numerous ‘snap’ lockdowns earlier in the year, students were starting to feel the effects. Staff rallied around the students and ‘Inspire Day’ was formed. The day was aimed to enhance students’ learning habits, social and emotional skills and strengthen their understanding of tertiary life as they moved into their final months of secondary school. Tammy van Wisse, who has swum one-and-a half times around the planet and is a sheer inspiration, presented to students about finding their purpose and reaching for their goals.

The following past pupils assisted with the day:

  • Jessica Clark (Class of 2017)
  • Ava Hattam (Class of 2018)
  • Annaliese Rogers (Class of 2018)
  • Poppy Hale (Class of 2019)
  • Anna Flarve (Class of 2019)
  • Kelci Hill (Class of 2019)
