Teaching and Learning

Term 4

This year has been yet another year of change and uncertainty. Through the challenges - students, staff and the wonderful Concord community have worked together to ensure the continuation of fantastic learning opportunities for all students. With student well-being as a priority, teams across the school have been supporting students to re-establish positive relationships and have kept these as a priority when planning for 2022.

With the continued impacts of remote and flexible learning, the Department of Education has provided schools with a second year of additional funding to continue the Tutor Learning Initiative. Even with the very best of efforts in both 2020-2021, there are some students who were not able to engage fully in the remote learning program. Teachers will use assessments along with their knowledge of students to make recommendations for the program in 2022 and families will be contacted early next year if your child will be part of the program.

There have been so many highlights throughout our short time back onsite in term 4. It was a wonderful moment to see our students in Upper Primary and 7/8 PreCAL have their first ‘in person’ incursion in nearly 2 years with a visit from author Vikki Conley. Students engaged in the interactive stories using puppets that they had made to become an active part of the story telling.

Our Year 12 students explored the Mornington Peninsula for their final secondary school camp and had a magnificent time trying new experiences while showing persistence and resilience.

The Lower Primary students have absolutely loved exploring the world of Harry Potter as part of this year's Christmas theme in the Discovery Centre’s M.I.L.E Room. They engaged their digital skills by taking photos in the green room and projecting themselves into different scenes and backgrounds.

Across all sections, students have been getting out and about for various excursions to develop their understanding of different concepts in authentic contexts. It has also been fantastic to see students engage socially in fun activities out in our local community.

I look forward to a new year of exciting learning and hope that 2022 provides the stability we are looking for. I would like to say a huge thank you to all our families for supporting the learning programs throughout this year. Have a safe and wonderful holiday break with your family and friends.
