Deputy Principal

It was so good seeing everyone’s faces yesterday for the first time since I started, as restrictions were wound back, and face masks are now optional. Interaction between people can sometimes be hard as without facial expressions, meaning can be hard to interpret. Seeing our staff and students smiling and talking to each other in a normal environment was invigorating and it will be nice to move back towards a new ‘norm’. As we move forward, it is important to note that some people will continue to wear face masks and we must respect each individual’s choice.

It is also important to note that face masks are still mandatory on public transport. I have had reports already that some students removed their masks as soon as they got on the bus yesterday. I would ask that you reinforce with your son the importance of following Public Health Orders for the safety of the whole community.

The relaxing of restrictions has also meant that our young men have access to the canteen and library. Whilst the weather has not been kind to us with having the students playing on ovals, we look forward to seeing your son/s running around at lunchtime once the rain stops.

There have been questions around my dinner table this week from my own children about the Russian invasion of Ukraine. It is important that we speak openly and honestly to our children to allay their fears. We keep the people of Ukraine in our thoughts and prayers.
