It is that time of year where teachers are busy preparing for end of year report writing. In yesterday’s Year Assemblies I spoke to students about the importance of due dates. Time management and meeting submission deadlines is always an important skill. However, at this time of year where teachers need to complete marking prior to reporting, delay in student submission can risk impacting the overall result in their End of Year Report.
Students spent time reviewing their SIMON dashboard for current Assessment and Classwork Tasks, upcoming due dates and any overdue tasks they may have failed to submit. Parents also have access to this information via our Parent Access Model (PAM). If a student is unable to meet a deadline they need to contact or speak with their teacher prior to the due date to negotiate an extension. Extra support is always available at Homework Club on Wednesday afternoons and many teachers are willing to provide extra help at Recess and Lunch times, all you need to do is ask.
Upcoming Year 10 Events
Uniform
I would like to remind Year 10s, that if there are any issues with their uniform, then this needs to be rectified now in preparation for Formal Exams next week.
Buses
As previously communicated, Year 10 students will be dismissed at the end of each exam and bus home. Students are reminded that just like their normal routine to and from school they are to go directly home. The purpose of this routine is to maximise their preparation time for the following exam. The bus home will provide an opportunity for students to reflect on and decompress from the previous exam so when they arrive home their mindset can switch to focusing on the next one.
Last week I provided students with a variety of tools to assist them in creating a study schedule to ensure they are maximising their time and studying smarter, not harder.
