From the Acting

Principal

Mrs Heidi Senior

Lead me in the dance of life, O God.

Turn my heart towards you as I follow your lead into places of wonder and grace.

Attune my ear to the music that hums beneath the surface of my thoughts and activities.

Give me a lithe spirit that moves with the flow of love and grace.

May I find joy in the dance that is my life.

With you as my partner and guide, I pray.

Amen.

This week, we moved into our newly renovated Joyce Performance Centre. Its new facilities, that have for months resonated with the sounds of drills and hammers, and now starting to echo with trumpet blasts, tinkling piano keys, young male tenor voices and the stomp of dramatic footsteps. We are so lucky to have such an amazing place for our boys to explore their creative capacities.

I would like to thank our Arts team, Damian Messer and the construction and design team for the work that has made this dream possible.

Year 10 Exams and Final week

This week I spoke with the Year 10 students about the exciting and demanding fortnight ahead of them. I also re-iterated my comments from my letter to you all, that serious uncooperative or unsavoury behaviour will not be tolerated. I am committed to working for a successful and joyous celebration of the boys’ time at the College, and those who cannot support that will not be welcome.

I wish the boys all the best in their final study and exam preparation and encourage them to approach these exams with the right balance of nerves and confidence.

And the Nominations are…

Next week our College is in the running for three National awards:

  • the Narrgunnawali awards recognising and celebrating educational environments implementing outstanding reconciliation initiatives,
  • the Edmund Rice Education Australia Charter Leadership awards which recognise the outstanding contribution of women and men in the service of their school communities, in support of the vision and mission of EREA,
  • and the STEM MAD Student Showcase is a celebration of student learning designed to acknowledge and promote STEM learning initiatives that address real-world problems and demonstrate the particularity of Catholic Schools.

I am so proud of our College and its people who are part of these nominations and I am looking forward to being able to bring news of the results next week.
