Dear Parents and Students
Hola y bienvenidos a AguaSalada.
I will take this opportunity to wish everyone a Muy felíz Navidas y Prospero Año nuevo.
During Term Four students have been learning not only the language but also the culture of various Spanish-speaking countries. I love to make learning Spanish fun, so my students have been playing games, singing songs, reading books, dancing, telling stories, and using technology, in order to encourage, challenge and motivate them to learn Spanish.
Spanish vocabulary that students have been practising:
Year Prep:
- To follow directions with words like levántense (stand up), siéntense (sit down), vengan aquí (come), escuchen (listen), miren (look).
- To greet and take leave with words like hola and adiós
- To introduce ourselves with me llamo… (my name is)o=
- Numbers and colours in Spanish
- Using Rockalingua to practice colours in Spanish.

Years One and Two have continued practising:
- To express feelings by saying estoy bien (I am well), estoy asi asi (I am ok), estoy mal (I am not well)
- To follow directions with words like levántense (stand up), siéntense (sit down), vengan aquí (come), escuchen (listen), miren (look).
- To greet and take leave with words like hola and adiós
- To introduce ourselves with me llamo… (my name is)
- Numbers and colours in Spanish
- And to call people by proper titles like Señor, Señora (Mrs), Señorita (Ms)
Years Three-Six have continued practising:
- To express feelings; Estoy/Está… (I am/He is)
- To ask and answer personal questions: ¿Cómo te llamas? (What’s your name), ¿Te gusta…? (Do you like...?), ¿Cómo estás? (How are you), ¿Cómo eres tú? (What are you like)
- To express likes and dislikes: Me gusta/No me gusta… (I like/I don’t like…)
- To practise greetings and leave taking:buenos días (good morning), buenas tardes (good afternoon), buenas noches (goodnight), hasta mañana (see you tomorrow), hasta pronto (see you soon), hasta luego (see you later), adiós (goodbye).
