In Grade 3 we are exploring and learning about Dreamtime. We are learning about the stories and culture of First Nations people today. This is how indigenous people in the past can relate the story of events of those early times.

We are writing and creating some Dreaming stories in our classes at school and hope to share some with you soon.

Grade 5/6

We read ‘My Country’ by Dorothea Mckeller, analysed the way that it was constructed and then recreated it using our own experiences of Australia. A lot of the kids used the work we’ve been doing in Environments & Sustainability as their influence and others used recent experiences in lockdown as their inspiration.

Practising for the online Christmas carols
Practising for the online Christmas carols

This year all of our Kalinda carols are going virtual! Each grade is busily preparing a special end of year performance, which will be filmed ready to share with our friends and families. Information about when this will be shared is coming!

Foundation are doing percussion, including body percussion and drumming. Grade 1s are playing the Boomwackers. Grade 2s are helping to choreograph their own dances. Grade 3s are performing carols in Auslan. Grade 4s are playing the keyboard and glockenspiels. And the 5/6s are choreographing their own dances, and writing and producing their own routines.

Foundation

Foundation have been reading fairy tales in literacy. Last week we did Jack and the Beanstalk and made our own Beanstalks!
