Principal's report
Mr Shaun McClare
I would like to acknowledge the traditional owners of the land on which Kalinda Primary school gathers, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation. I would like to pay my respects to their elders past, present, and emerging.
As we have only one month to go until the end of the 2021 school year, it is crucial that we look at how we make the most of this limited time. For our Yr 6 students in particular, this is a time of reflection, preparation for secondary schooling, and enjoying this time with the friends that have been built over many years.
In the classroom, we aim to make sure that learning and well-being are maximised through this time. We want to hit the 'finish line' strongly and ensure students are able to make as much growth as they can.
Whilst focusing on learning progression, we also take this time to celebrate the resilience and determination that everyone displayed throughout 2021. Graduation for our Yr 6 students will be a special event and in every class across the school, we will ensure it is an enjoyable and special end of the year.
With changes to COVID-safe settings being introduced throughout Victoria as we hit 90%, changes to school-based Operational Guidelines will likely follow. We will keep the community updated with these changes as soon as they are implemented.
I would like to thank our students, families and staff for your amazing cooperation with all of the protocols we have in place. By working together we are able to minimise the risk of COVID transmission and reduce the risk of school closure or significant numbers of the school community having to go into isolation. We have been incredibly lucky with this so far, having minimal interruption to our operations and I hope that will continue to be the case.
