Policy Updates

The kindergarten maintains a number of policies to cover regulatory and funding requirements and assist with smooth operation of the service.

 

A number of these policies are viewable on the website and a copy of all policies is kept in the kinder office and available for anyone to read on request. You can also send me an email at kinderadmin@oakleighps.vic.edu.au to request a copy.

 

The following policies were recently reviewed and updated and ratified at the May school council meeting.  Changes have been noted.

 

Administration of Medication

a. Requirement to complete written documentation when administrating medicine

b. Inclusion of Attachment 2 re administration of paracetamol including in relation to Covid 19. 

Emergency and Evacuation 

a. Inclusion of Business Continuity Plan

b. Inclusion of procedures for Loss of Essential Services, Extreme Heat, Pandemic & Communicable Diseases

c. Updated Evacuation Procedure

d. Reviewed Risk Assessment

Dealing with Medical Conditions

a. Sources – including updated Ambulance Victoria Call Card.

b. Nominated Supervisor or Persons in Day to Day Charge responsibilities – removing of three outdated points

Occupational Health & Safety

a. Sources – removal of outdated Worksafe references

b. Educator and other staff responsibilities – inclusion of following point

"teaching children about positive safety behaviours, including correct use of protective equipment, correct use of facilities and equipment, and identifying and responding to hazards"

Privacy & Confidentiality - Major changes. 

a. Introduction of Child Wellbeing and Safety (Information Sharing) Amendment Regulations 2020. 

b. Amendments to Background, Definitions, Sources and Procedures for all staff

c. Record keeping and privacy laws – updates to Attachment 1

d. Privacy principles in action – updates to Attachment 2 

e. Privacy Statement  - minor changes to Attachment 4 (updated copy on display in foyer)

f.  Inclusion of new Attachment 5 Sharing information and record keeping under the Child Information and Family Violence Sharing Schemes  . 

 

The following policies have been reviewed and updated and will be presented to the June school council meeting. Changes noted.

Acceptance & Refusal of Authorisations

Minor changes based on inclusion of references to Xap 

Delivery & Collection of Children 

a. Inclusion of references to Xap. Resulting in removal of OSHC from this policy.

b. Per the above changing all references from The Service to OPSK

c. Removing Attachment 2 – Authorisation Form as this can now be done through Xap.

Complaints & Grievances No Changes

Information Technology

a. Minor changes to include reference to Cyber Safety, removal of reference to Vicnet and removal of Attachment 4 – User Agreement Form. Not in use at the Service

Water Safety

a. Minor changes to include new standards and update to definition of Serious Incident
