3/4C - Mr Lewis

One of our Inquiry activities this week was to research the wave of migration to Australia in the years directly following World War 2. The students had to match the countries to the migrant numbers and then order them from greatest to smallest, as seen here in Lucas C’s example.

Another activity for Inquiry involved researching the Ten Pound Pom migration scheme. This is Lucas’ effective Ten Pound Pom poster, encouraging people in Britain to relocate to Australia.

Dash A. created this spectacular comix with his dad, Liam, during the remote learning period. Dash has impressed all of 3/4D with his commitment to learning during this challenge time.

3/4E - Ms Margarita

Wow! What a busy few weeks! I have been so impressed with how well 3/4E students have transitioned to remote learning and loved seeing all the different ways they are presenting their work on Seesaw. We have had a productive time during our live Webex lessons and it has been great seeing each other each day. This week, we started our Time unit in Maths. Students have had a go at making their own clocks, learned all the parts of a clock and how they work and have started telling the time on analogue and digital clocks.

Our Literacy lessons have been focused on our 'Come From Away' Inquiry unit, where students have explored migration to Australia during different periods in history. We have been talking about how important it is to learn about all parts of our history, even the bad parts that make us feel sad and angry. In this activity students explored the Gold Rush and imagined what it was like for people away from home, missing their family.
