Yes We are Back - COVID Restrictions Update

The best news for the week is that we all return to school this Friday.  Please remember we will have to follow some restrictions, such as wearing masks for those over 12 years.     We will keep the School Community informed about activities coming up such as Year 5/6 camp, Year 11 exams, however it is business as usual from Friday.  Looking forward to seeing staff and students back to face to face learning. Please stay safe, social distance and sanitise.

Deb Ball Re-scheduled

Moving forward and to avoid clashes with other events, including Winter Sports finals and possible further Covid restrictions, we have made the decision to postpone the 2021 Debutante Ball until Saturday 9th October the end of week 1, Term 4.  Please be aware that this will be the ultimate last chance for the year to hold the Deb Ball, otherwise it will become the 2022 Deb Ball.

Year 7 Information Nights - Postponed

Due to current COVID restrictions we have had to postpone our 2nd Year 7 Information Evening.   We will let you know what date this will be rescheduled to.

Please Support the Wedderburn Communities  Push for Childcare, Before & After School Care

A huge thanks to all the families who had representatives attend the College recently to support the push for a Wedderburn Community Childcare Centre.  This was the official start of our campaign to 'Keep Families Local'   for  a Child Care Centre in our town.  Below is some information from the Keep Families Local Committee. I encourage you all to please sign the petition and fill in the survey, as all forms of Childcare would make a huge difference to families in Wedderburn and surrounding districts.

Special Petition

Attached to this weeks newsletter is a petition which needs to be completed in hard copy. We cannot submit the petition online.   Please print off a copy of the petition and have friends, family members and neighbours sign it.

Forms can be returned to School or to Steel's Butchers.

Child Care Update & Important Information

Thank you to everyone who has been supporting our campaign to secure childcare and before and after school care for all families.

There is a petition circulating in local businesses that we would really appreciate your signature on. This was launched by Louise Staley, member for Ripon, and will be taken to Parliament. Along with the petition, we are collecting impact statements from ALL community members. If you, your family, your business or someone you know has been impacted by the lack of childcare, please email ‘keepfamilieslocal@gmail.com’. Alternatively, fill out the survey found by following this link:

All families deserve access to Childcare. This issue is greatly impacting our Community on so many levels and we need your support.

Double Points in Lockdown for Primary School Children Reading Challenge this Week.

Mr Lockhart & Mr Forrest have issued a challenge to the children in the Primary area of Wedderburn College to read a total of 3000 nights combined before the end of term. Reading sessions have to be signed by a parent and extra bonus reading sessions will be awarded over weekends.

*This week and during  any days of lockdown we will offer for a limited time only: read 1 night receive 1 bonus night in the count  that's our 2 for one deal this week!

Remember if the students are successful, Mr Forrest has to dress up as a princess and Mr Lockhart as a fairy - (I'd like to see that) for the day and cook pancakes for students.  Stay tuned and continue reading.

One of my all time favourites to visit each week is the Year 7 cooking class.

It was great stop by on a Sunday morning and buy raffle tickets for the Deb Ball from student volunteers.

During the week I visited Inglewood Primary School for a Year 7 Information Evening.

Another  highlight was taking four staff members to Warracknabeal Primary School to learn about the new Interactive TV's similar to ones we have purchased for the P-4 classrooms.  We are always learning!
