F/1

Our F/1 students have been concentrating on developing their ball-handling skills and focusing on underarm throwing, the direction, and the force.  They have gone incredibly well! Students enjoyed playing the game ‘popcorn’ as a warm-up, and demonstrated excellent focus and persistence skills whilst participating in the lesson’s drill activities, both independently and collaboratively with their peers.

Our F/1 students, as part of their Health learning have also been learning to categorise food into ‘sometimes’ and ‘always’ foods, as well as the all essential 'five food groups'.    We discussed the importance of being able to make good food choices and the impact that those food choices have on our bodies.  I have been very impressed by the level of care and consideration our F/1 students provide each other with whilst participating in learning and am so excited to continue developing my relationships with each and every one of them!

2/3 and 4/6

Week 2 marked the beginning of the school’s 4-week long AFL Sporting Schools Program for our grade 2/3 and 4/5/6 students.  For 4 fabulous weeks students with the support of their coaches will participate in fun games and drills aimed at developing their hand-eye coordination, hand-balling, marking and kicking skills.  Students have responded incredibly well to the learning and each week they have approached their sessions with enthusiasm and excitement.  I am incredibly proud of the way in which the students have represented Newlands Primary School.  They have shown care, responsibility, determination and respect.  Well done to all involved!

SSV Coburg Districts Cross Country Carnival

Just a reminder that we have the Annual SSV Coburg District Cross Country Championships coming up at Jackson Reserve on Wednesday the 19th of this month.  Races will commence at 9.45 am and conclude by 12.15 pm.  We would love it if parents could come and cheer on our team but this year, due to Covid-19 safety regulations the event organisers have asked that just one parent attend on the day.  We hope to see you there.  Go Newlands!!
