Project Compassion

I am delighted to report that our community raised $2,986.15 for Caritas during the Lenten period last term. Caritas is the largest international charity.  Inspired by Catholic Social Justice Principles, their commitment to the poorest and most powerless around the world has saved countless lives and assisted the marginalised and exploited to lead dignified and happy lives.  I thank families, students and staff for your contribution to the vital work of Caritas.

Founders’ Day Mass

Last week our whole community celebrated Founder’s Day by honouring founders The Venerable Nano Nagle and St John Baptiste de la Salle.  During the Mass, Tiana Amoretti (Faith & Mission Captain) said to the community:

Our founders, Nano Nagle and John Baptiste de La Salle, were so inspired by the words of Jesus that they dedicated their lives to ensure all people in their care knew the name of Jesus and what he taught and how he lived.

To this day the De La Salle Brothers and Nano Nagle’s Presentation Sisters continue the work of their founders.  St John’s Regional College in turn supports their work by raising money for Wellsprings for Women that helps vulnerable women in the local community, and MAD Day that raises funds to help the Lasallian school in Pakistan.

Year 11 Reflection Day

Last Wednesday the Year 11s went to a beautiful location in Lysterfield to spend the day reflecting on what it means to be a leader.  They pondered about the qualities they most value in good leaders and considered how they themselves might become an effective leader.  Leadership of course is not restricted to an official role but can be exercised by everyone every day in our responsible and ethical dealings with others.  There was also some fun and games to be had!
