Career Pathways

VICTORIAN CAREERS SHOW EXCURSION

On Friday the 14th of May, the Year 10 and 11 students participated in the Victorian Careers Show at the Melbourne Showgrounds.  Students had the opportunity to talk to TAFE and university course advisors and other exhibitors and ask questions relevant to each of their pathways.

This excursion came at an opportune time, given that Subject Selections and the College Career Pathways Futures Expo are both just around the corner.  It gave our students the opportunity too, to put the Career Pathways – Homeroom Tasks that they have been completing to the test, to see if what they have been considering, fits in with their Subject Selection plan.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the teachers and support staff who attended the expo with our students. It was an important step in the pathway planning process and without those who supported us, the excursion could not have been the success it was.  I would also like to thank our Year 10 and 11 students for their professional approach to the day. It was impressive to see how engaged you all were and how amazing the impressive haul of resources you were all able to collect.

Good luck to all our students with their pathway planning. Keep an eye our for our College Career Pathways Futures Expo early Term 3 and make sure you add it to your calendars (Wednesday, 21st of July 6:00pm – 8:00pm).

June 30: Online

Digital Portfolios – Register HERE

Due to high demand and its popularity in 2020, we are offering two sessions of the digital portfolio workshop for students to attend online, via a group Teams meeting. Places are limited as these workshops are kept small to enable direct feedback.

In this workshop, students will learn how to design and build a simple folio website.

Our facilitator, a teacher in RMIT's College of Design and Social Context, will give students tips on what makes a good folio and how to present it when applying for a design course.

They will also have the chance to ask questions and find out what it’s like to study design at RMIT.

This workshop will introduce students to:

  • The benefits of a digital folio
  • How to design, customise and publish a free digital folio
  • Tips for annotating and presenting a folio
