Principal's Message

Dear Parents, students and the wider community,

On Monday night the schools of our Parish hosted a pre-sacramental evening for Reconciliation in St Joachim's Hall. It was very well attended and we will have one in mid-July to support our students receiving the Sacrament of First Eucharist. May God Bless all our students receiving a sacrament and Jesus guide them on their journeys in 2021.

NAPLAN assessments have been conducted this week with more to do next week. The students are working diligently and doing their best- who can ask for more? After all they are just one measure of assessment used at school in determining what your child knows and what they need to learn next.

On Wednesday Fr Martin Jeramias joined our parish as our new Parish Priest.  Fr Benneth has officially resigned his position here now so Fr Martin will be our Parish Priest rather than just the administrator. Fr Martin visited the school on Thursday and was introduced to all students and staff as he had a look around our facilities. We look forward to him being a a regular visitor to our school, sharing his charism, and working with our students, families and staff on their faith journeys.

On Thursday night our School Advisory Board met for the second time this year. Our Board currently consists of parents Ben Cadd and Andrew Woff (co-chairs), Kellie Budge, Kristin Rowell, James Wall, Jen Hicks and Samantha O'Connor. They are joined by myself, Mrs Thomas and Fr Jeramias. I thank these parents for their time and efforts.

Next week on Wednesday we will join schools throughout Australia as part of National Simultaneous Storytime. It is one of those fun things to be a part of that encourages students with their reading.

Next Thursday our quick runners in the House Cross Country now get the opportunity to represent our school at the Seaford District Cross Country. We look forward to seeing what they can achieve.

Just in some really positive news for the school we have 23 already enrolled for Foundation in 2022. With 20 other expressions of interest, at this early stage, it seems highly likely we may nearly have two full classes of 20 students each in Foundation to commence 2022.

Wishing everyone a great weekend. God Bless

Rod Shaw

Principal
