There have been a couple of changes to our junior teams over the last month or so. We had originally planned to enter two U18 mixed teams but we have just gone with one and we have pulled out our U12 half pitch district team due to a lack of numbers.
Our U14 Girls Pennant side has also been promoted into Shield B to even up the number of teams in that competition, so we now have two U14 Girls Shield teams- A & B, which is fantastic.
There has been a range of successes over the first four rounds and teams now settling into their groove.
Outside of the club we are currently running an after school hockey program at Lauriston Girls' School on Friday afternoons and have also run more hockey clinics at both Malvern PS and Glen Huntly PS.
Last Friday we held our FNL round where all our U14-U18 teams were playing at home (the only time this year!) It was a fantastic night with a wonderful atmosphere . You can see all the photos on the FNL page in this TEMpo.
We have had two of our U12 Boys selected in the State Schools Victoria (SSV) U12 State team which is very exciting. Congratulations to Nick Frank and Brodie Eager, we're very proud of you both!
This year we are offering our older juniors (older U12s, U14 & U16) the opportunity to be a ball kid at the PL home games. Here they will have the opportunity to meet the players, be involved in the warm up, team talk and after match chat. They will also be introduced to a player who plays their position so they can receive some pointers on their game. This is a great opportunity to build connections between our junior and senior players as they are likely to be playing with these people in a few short years! If your child is interested in being a ball kid, please contact Sandy Marshall:
Registrations and Nominations now Open
There are 2 ways to be selected to trial for a State Team. One is through being assessed at Draft Camp (better chance) and being offered an opportunity for development through the HV Academy. From the HV Academy, players are selected to trial for the State Team. (HV Academy costs approx. $500)
If not selected for Academy then there is another chance to be selected to trial and that is through attending the Elite Skill Development Days (much less likely.) If players are really interested in trialling for a state team then we would strongly advise attending Draft Camp to then be asked to attend Academy.
