Reading in Stage 1
Each day in the Literacy block, you will see our Stage 1 students deeply engaged in a range of activities to help further build their reading skills.
One of the many wonderful opportunities we have available for our students is a dedicated 40 minute skills session that occurs Monday - Thursday each week. With a dedicated team of teachers and Educational Assistants, students are split into instructional groups where they undertake explicit teaching and reading practice targetted to their needs.
Providing effective, targetted and consistent opportunities for students to practice their reading skills is crucial for the development of our young students as competent readers, who can successfully progress through their primary education. It is pleasing to witness the continuous growth of our Stage 1 students in both their reading skills and their confidence!
