Online Learning in Term 2

We are currently preparing for a blended delivery model of learning in Term 2 by implementing a digital platform for learning in order to be able to provide for the ongoing education of your child(ren). Our current national health crisis is an unpredictable one. I wish I could tell you what 'school' will look like in Term 2, but I can't. This makes our planning very challenging.

It is more important than ever that we all stay connected as a community for the sake of our children/students. For the time being this will be online. We value the strong relationships we have in our Para Vista School community and so have implemented a structure where your child can connect and learn from their own Para Vista teachers and leaders and provide responses and feedback to us about their engagement and learning (either independently or supported by their parents in Rec-Year 2/3).

This is a huge undertaking. The Coronavirus situation has shifted rapidly and so have we. We have provided Learning Packs, individualised for each student so that they are supported to engage with their learning up to the end of Term 1 (Friday 3rd April). OSHC will be available as a service to families from 6th April to 24th April. Please contact OSHC to book (Contact details are on our OSHC page).

Term 2 starts in three weeks, on 27th April. On the first day of Term 2 you will get the Term Overview and first fortnights learning plan from your child's class teacher on Edmodo. The learning will be a mix of online learning activities (eg Lessons taught by your child's class teacher), offline activities and some choice/extension activities.

You may want/need to spend a bit of time in the school holidays to prepare for your child's online learning in Term 2. To support you to do this we will provide you with information in this newsletter (See Snapshots of Learning). We have also put together Parent Packs for each family to ensure that you have the information that you need at hand. We understand that this is a challenging time for families and to try and support the strong positive disposition to our school we are also including a book for your child as a gift to keep. These packs will be available to collect from school on Friday 3rd April, the last day of term.

In order for us to effectively implement social distancing guidelines we ask that you come and collect the Parent Pack for your child at the time allocated for the youngest in your family:

Hive (Reception)               9 – 10.30am

Orchard (Year ½)              10.30 -11.30am

Greenhouse   (Year ¾)     12.00 – 1.00pm

Garden   (Year 5/6/7)       1.30 – 2.30pm

If you have children in multiple year levels please come in at the time allocated for the class of the youngest student.

Entry is via Don Street and Front Office entrance. We appreciate your patience and respect whilst we implement social distancing. If your child is at school on Friday their Parent pack will be given to them at the end of the day. Preschool Parent Packs will be distributed through Preschool.
