Prep Enrolments and Open Night - Tuesday 5th May

Over the past several weeks I have been very busy with school tours showcasing our wonderful school.  If you have friends or family members who are thinking about school options for 2021 please encourage them to book a tour with our lovely office staff.

Our Prep 2021 Information night  will be on Tuesday 5th May at 6.30 PM. There are flyers at the school office.  Feel free to take one and pass it on to others.

Early finish

On Friday 27th March at 12.45 pm we will have a whole school assembly hosted by the School Captains. This will have our student of the month awards. The assembly will end at 1.30 pm and students will be dismissed. OHSC care will be available for families that afternoon with no additional charge applied for the extra hour. The staff will be trained in First Aid Level 2 and CPR. The additional time will be used to support this important training.

Parents and friends

If you see me at school at drop off or pick up time....run! I am only half joking. I will be out and about over the coming days looking for 'willing' volunteers. If you are interested in learning more about how you can help and support please attend school next Tuesday 17th March at 7.30 PM.

Coronavirus / COVOID-19

There are a few families contacting school regarding their overseas trips and what to do when they return. The advice I have been sharing is to keep an eye on the changing travel conditions and to consider self-isolation if you are returning from a country that has been deemed a high risk for COVOID-19. Several countries have been listed as a severe risk. There are no travel restrictions in Australia at this time.

Further information from DET is listed below.

"Dear families,

The Commonwealth Government has updated travel restrictions this week.

The extension to existing travel restrictions now applies to visitors from Republic of Korea, Iran and mainland China. Visitors who are not Australian citizens or permanent residents, or their dependants, will not be allowed entry into Australia.

The Commonwealth Government has also advised that visitors from Italy will also be subject to enhanced health screening and temperature testing arrangements.

Some of our students and families may be affected by the travel advice, and I’d encourage you to support each other.

Everyone can protect against infections by practising good hand and respiratory hygiene."

Here are some tips that we all can follow:

1. Cover your mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing with a tissue, or cough into your elbow.

2. Dispose of the tissue into a bin and then wash your hands afterwards.

3. Wash your hands regularly using soap and water, including after using the toilet, and before eating. Please refer to the Department’s coronavirus web page for the latest advice and information.

Student free day

 Friday 6th March

On Friday 6th March all staff attended a network-wide professional development session in Croydon with Simon Dewar. Simon's presentation focussed on how we increase our focus on improving curiosity in our classrooms. There are lots of ideas for us to talk about at school.

We followed this session by joining Edwina Ricci and her team in Lilydale. We looked at our character strengths, PERMAH, growth mindsets, contextualized wellbeing all with a focus on how we all flourish in life. This work complements TRIBES and Respectful Relationships and fits under the umbrella of Positive Education. There will be a Parents and Carers session in the future. Watch this space.

Student Banking

Just a reminder School Banking is on a Monday. Students need to bring their bank books in Monday only as  no school banking is able to be left overnight at school. Thank you to our volunteers,

Claire Liistro and Cassie Edelman and (Megan Van Den Helm who will help out when needed.)

Toys

Thank you for the small toy donations. Keep them coming if you have any at home. The toys need to have no sharp edges but can be in non-working order. The donation box is in the reception area.
