GRIP LEADERSHIP STUDENT CONFERENCE

Student Leadership
One of our key areas of strength at Albany Rise Primary School is the strong student leaders who develop from a range of school opportunities. This week, nineteen of our student leaders attended the GRIP student conference in Melbourne. Our Students worked with many other students from a range of different schools across Victoria, learning and developed strong leadership skills from their experiences. Students will be asked to share and use these skills as they continue to grow in their leadership roles throughout this year.
Here is what some of the students who attended had to say about their learning and experiences at the GRIP leadership conference:
I really liked the part where the presenters talked about putting others first, and explained it in a fun way by playing games. We talked about happiness, humility, hearing and helping others. We also saw some movies clips about the effect of not having these skills and how they can be used- Stelios
We learned how to choose our decisions wisely. We did a game, thumbs up and thumbs down to vote on our decisions. The presenters challenged us to think more deeply about our decisions. – Luka
We learnt how to be a leader. We need to think about other people first and ask about their decisions. If you want to be a leader you cannot always think about yourself, you have to get other peoples choices and ideas. – Sarah
