Senior Football
Congratulations on a successful start to the ISA season against a tough Oakhill outfit.
This Saturday is another tough round against St Patrick’s College Strathfield. There is a combination of home and away venues so please check your times and locations carefully and allow plenty of travel time.
Good luck to our 1st XI who this time next week will be playing in the next round of the NSWCIS Cup.
Please note that there will be no training next Wednesday the 10 May due to a staff meeting or on 15 May due to Year 12 Parent Teacher evening.
Good luck to all teams this weekend.
Junior School Football Games Referee Opportunity
SPX Senior Football Students who would like to be paid to referee junior school football games at Oxford Falls, are encouraged to register and complete the online and free preliminary referee course offered by FFA in the 2023 football season.
See web-link:
Upon successful completion of this free online training course please do the following:
- Students will receive their preliminary referee certificate automatically.
- Please send a copy of this certificate to Mr Ben Ryan (Junior School Sports Coordinator) Bryan@stpiusx.nsw.edu.au and advise that your son would like to be part of the list of paid junior school referees who can coach junior school games at Oxford Falls. The SPX Football Supporters Club will provide a referee whistle for all boys who complete the course successfully and go on the junior school referee list.
Mr Simon Yue - Football Convenor
ISA Tennis
I would like to congratulate Anton Langreiter for being named as Captain of ISA Tennis. Anton has worked hard and shown great leadership skills, and we are confident that he will do an excellent job in this role. We are looking forward to seeing him in action.
Despite the boys being able to start their games last weekend, the rain did not hold off and games were abandoned. We are hoping for better weather this week with lots of sunshine!
This week students will be playing in the following locations:
Division 1, 3, 5, 8, 10 – Playing at Strathfield Sports Club against St Patrick's College
Division 2, 4, 6, 9, 11 – Playing at Talus St against St Patrick's College
Division 7 – Playing at Barker College against Barker
Please email me prior to Friday 8:00 am if you know that your son is unable to play. Looking forward to this weekend!

SPX Community Sports
Before the Term 1 break, two of our Year 9 students Archer Ferguson and Niall Jaffrey attended the Aussie Nationals Surf Life Saving event held in Perth. Both boys competed superbly across the competition with both boys making Board finals in the team event.
Archer backed up his team performances with some fantastic results individually:
- 10th Ironman Final out of 105 who started in the heats
- 7th Surf Race Final (swim final), with the highlight being
- 4th place finish in the 2KM Ocean Swim.
Also doing great things in Surf Life Saving and across multiple sports is 14As rugby player, Brad Newman.
In Surf Life Saving Brad has achieved the following awards:
- Nippers Club Captain Avoca 2023
- Nipper of the year 2023
- Beach competitor of the year, State level
- SRC and Rookie lifeguard
- Finalist Junior Life Saver of the Year 2023
In Touch Footy - playing in the After State Cup, he made it to the Regionals Sydney Scorpions Touch team. Tournament was held on 29/30 April. Unfortunately, the team didn't make the semis but Brad was an excellent ambassador for the College.
