Principal's Report
I would like to welcome everyone to Term 2 at Windsor. Term 2 is a busy term for a number of reasons. We have several sporting events scheduled, our May Market is next week, our open morning to potential new families is coming up in a few weeks and our building project continues. Term 2 is also a reporting term where families will receive a mid-year report on student progress and parent teacher interviews will be in the final week of term. Term 2 is also a week shorter than normal and has a few public holidays and student free days; a formula for the term to simply fly by.
Our building project reaches an important phase this term where we regain access to the Hornby Street building, the Hornby Street front of school area will be completed and the construction fences will be removed. The only uncertainty I have from the Building Authority is the re-location of the play space we lost. While the raw materials arrived mid-last year, there has been no sign or word about the commencement of construction.
Our landscaping plan will continue with a focus on edible and native plants. The school frontage will have a natural lawn to balance out the amount of hard surfaces that we have and the remaining planting in the rain garden will be completed.
The project has also improved the school’s sustainability profile. Solar panels have been activated, gas has been removed from the site and our watering system uses captured rainwater. Our rain garden in the deck also filters out litter before it exits the property and is providing a native habitat.
I conclude with a reminder for families to pay school fees. With only 29% of student school fees received so far, the school will struggle to provide the resources so important to student engagement and learning. If you have not already done so, please make paying your fees a priority.
