Partnership Agreement

VERTO Indigenous Advancement Strategy coordinator and NSW AECG Inc. President, Mary Croaker, recently met with local Orange schools to discuss future support for all students and promote the Aboriginal Youth Leadership Program. To solidify the schools’ engagement with the Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG) and enhance their commitment to improving education for their students, Mary designed a ‘signature painting’ where the participating schools pledged their support by putting their fingerprints on a canvas.

The message of the gathering was that together we will strengthen collaboration between Aboriginal communities and schools, together we will work towards common goals in Aboriginal education, and together we will celebrate the successes of our students and communities.

Mrs Meers and Ms Pritchard signed the painting along with other school leaders and school community members. This symbolised commitment to working together and providing all staff and students with an understanding and appreciation of the richness and diversity of Aboriginal cultures and histories, and to understand the importance of a genuine partnership to improve learning and life outcomes for our first nations people.

ANZAC Day

Anson Street School students participated in the community ANZAC day march, representing our school with pride. It’s heartening to see young minds honoring the brave men and women who served our country. Your march was a beautiful tribute to their sacrifice. Well done, students! Our school captains Charlie Banham and Daisy Wilson represented our school with pride, laying a wreath during the formal service at Robinson Park.

A school ANZAC service was held to remember the sacrifice of those who have died in war, and to celebrate the courage, endurance and mateship that are still relevant across our nation today. Anson Street School would like to thank Derik Johns (Bugler) and David Howell (Pipe Major) for your contribution, and to our special guests that attended this service.

Harvest

It's that time of year again when the grapes in our vineyard are ready to be picked. Nearly three ton of grapes were sent off to Phillip Shaw Wines and eventually the wine will be available from Dan Murphy's to purchase.

Thank you to our special guest Duncan Auld Director, Educational Leadership for attending, and a big thank you to: Phillip Shaw, David Gell, Anthony Wilson, Jess Hodder, Kate Griffen, Cassie Lloyd, Boyd Griffen, staff and students from Orange High School and all Anson Street School staff and students for another successful harvest!
