INSPIRING CURIOUS MINDS

PREPS

YEAR 1

Year 1's excursion to Melbourne Museum

Last Thursday the year one's were excited to embark on their Melbourne Museum excursion.  Armed with their curious minds, the students had the opportunity to investigate many of the exhibits throughout the day.  We started in the Mini Mega Model Museum and Melbourne Story, followed by a stroll through the beautiful Milarri Garden. (We learnt that milarri is the Boonwurrung word for outside.) After lunch we wandered through the Dynamic Earth, Dinosaur Walk and Bugs Alive exhibits.  Without a doubt, the Bugs Alive exhibit was the standout favourite amongst the students!

Thank you to all our volunteers and staff who helped out on the day.

YEAR 2

On Thursday the 30th of March the Year 2 students went to Legoland Discovery Centre in Chadstone and Phoenix Park Community Adventure Playground. Students explored the question 'How do we make and keep friends?' by working in groups and playing with others. At Legoland the students participated in a collaborative story telling workshop, they created stories in a small group using the beginning, middle and end plot structure. We explored Legoland further going on the fun rides,  building Lego structures on an Earthquake plate and even used a ramp where we could test our wheeled creations.  Then we went for a walk to Phoenix Park Community Adventure Playground where we played in the fun wood built park where there was a flying fox, tire swing and ropes.

A snapshot of our favourite parts:

Lego

Ema 2A: I saw the 4D movie, the water was raining on us.

Jack 2B: Going on a train where you can shoot bad guys.

Trinity 2C: When we were building the story because we got to work together and create something new.

Playground

Luca 2A: That you can move around fast (at the playground) when playing the floor is lava tag.

Oscar 2B: I liked practising on the monkey bars and the rope climb.

Jaden 2C: I liked playing with my friends. We played hide and seek tag.

YEAR 3/4

The 3/4’s had so much fun at our excursion to the Grand Prix on Thursday! We saw multiple car races in the grandstand where the cars were zooming by at an astounding speed. A lot of us wore headphones to control the loud noises! We participated in a variety of activities, such as interacting with robots, transformers and army tanks. Some of us even got to use virtual reality technology in an entertainment tent. The day ended by seeing one last race and then heading back to school for pick up. It was an exhausting but super fun day!

YEAR 5/6

The 5/6 students got to take their learning to the racetrack on Thursday. We were fortunate with great weather, and large crowd off 55,000 other spectators to make the most of the day. The students enjoyed sampling everything the Grand Prix had to offer from watching the loud Porsches zoom around the track to the tech hub where we got to explore 3D printing. Our students played with drones, trialled VR technology, viewed different types of military vehicles and much, much more. The 5/6 group were excited to see the floating bridge across the lake and had fun seeing if we could make waves. Mr Huynh and Ms Abbott could not be prouder of the way our students represented our school with pride and enthusiasm. We are very thankfully to our support crew that made the day possible.
