Year 12 Trivia

On Monday, Period 4, sixteen teams of Year 12 students and a single team of teachers gathered for five rounds of intense, but fun, Trivia. Mini games filled space in between each round with the most memorable being the amazing Tik Tok Dance Challenge. This was wonderfully executed by Mr Pollock to the beat of 'Money don't Jiggle Jiggle'.

Students got to sing along to music as it played throughout the Trivia, some even getting on the mic to earn extra points for their teams - including Mr Murphy with his rendition of 'Don’t want to Miss a Thing.' Overall, the Trivia was great to take part in, and was a great way to have some fun and let off some stress for our Year 12's as we come to the end of Term 1. Thank you to Mr Pollock and Ms Fonda for organizing the event, and congratulations to the winning teams; enjoy the pizza lunch!

VCE Policy Update

Please read below an important  VCE  policy update regarding the  Request for an Extension for School Based Assessments (SACs).  To further improve our College processes and to ensure we align with VCAA requirements, from Term 2 onwards, VCE students will need to apply and submit a form requesting for an extension/change of scheduled assessment at least five (5) school days prior to the initial assessment (SAC) date.

This form is required in all cases  EXCEPT for an unexpected medicalabsence  and  a school approved absence.  Please note, most missed assessments will fall under these two categories.

Extension of time for an individual student to complete a school-based assessment will only be granted in special circumstances, as per VCAA requirements. Requests for scored assessment for medical absences without appropriate medical certificates will be denied. In most instances, medical absences are unexpected.

How will this Process Impact Students?

1. If a student knowingly misses a SAC (you know in advance) and the absence is NOT a school approved absence or an unexpected medical absence, students must apply and submit  a Request for an Extension for School Based Assessment form (see attached).  Students can pick up this hard copy form from Senior School or the Pathways Hub, alternatively they can download the form from Teams and Compass.

2. All students are responsible for securing the classroom teacher and parent/guardian signature of approval, and for submitting the form to the Leader of Senior School for final approval  at least 5 days before the initial assessment date.

3.  The teacher, in consultation with Senior School, will determine the most appropriate new scheduled SAC date and time of the assessment to ensure fairness (no student is advantaged / disadvantaged) and to uphold the integrity of the VCE. This could be Tuesday after school or at a different time at the discretion of the classroom teacher and Senior School.

4. Students granted an extension of time  must complete the SAC/equivalent SAC the day  before  or  within 5 school  days of the original assessment date.  Note: The earliest that an assessment task may be rescheduled is the day before the original scheduled assessment date.
