LOOKING FORWARD TO EDUCATION WEEK AT CHPS

This year, Education Week runs from Sunday 14 to Saturday 20 May. The theme ‘Active Learners: Move, Make, Motivate’ celebrates the many ways students learn, through physical activity, hands-on learning and student voice. Education Week is an opportunity for our school to celebrate and share with you how we encourage our students to be active learners. To find out more about the theme, you can visit the Education Week 2023 website.

Students at Croydon Hills Primary participate in a wonderful sports and physical education program. We are very lucky to have two passionate specialist PE teachers, Laura Yorke and Rob Lewis, who promote the importance of physical activity and strongly believe that healthy bodies support healthy minds. On top of weekly PE lessons, all Junior, Middle and Senior students engage in extra Friday sport sessions with their classroom teachers. Preps participate in weekly ‘Sensory Motor Gym’ sessions with Mrs Yorke. This program focuses on activating the brain to enhance sensory, visual, listening and memory skills. A great example of how being active can optimise learning!

In the classroom, our teachers engage and motivate students by linking academic learning to real-world experiences. We also facilitate active learning through meaningful games and a wealth of hands-on experiences in literacy and numeracy.

Croydon Hills will be celebrating Education Week by inviting parents and carers into our school during the week, at the following times:
