John XXIII Netball Club

There has been a lot of chat this week about the ethos and philosophy of our Club.

John XXIII College Netball Club welcomes students and alumni of John XXIII College.

We are an inclusive Club that welcomes players of all abilities. Our philosophy is to encourage participation while striving for excellence.  Emphasis is placed on encouraging all players to do their best and on having fun.

Our Club is a member of the Perth Netball Association and we adhere to and abide by the PNA rules, by-laws, and codes of conduct.

At Primary school age having fun and learning new skills should be prioritised over winning.

NET SET GO - Years 2, 3 & 4, players should be learning and experiencing all of the positions on the court.

Players should be given equal amounts of time in all positions and off the court over the course of the season.

Players should not be given preference or priority into any positions or court time at this early stage of learning netball.

At the junior netball level, in Years 5 & 6, players will start to concentrate on particular areas of the court rather than set positions but should still be given the flexibility to try any area of the court that they would like.

At Secondary school, age players concentrate on areas of the court and start to specialise in positions.

Players are graded into teams of similar abilities by independent netball graders.

All players are given equal court time over the course of the season unless players are absent from training or do not abide by the Code of Conduct.

Our Code of Conduct is attached for your information.

Equipment

Please take care of all of the equipment in your team bags. It is expensive to replace and the cost ultimately is passed back to the parents.

If there is wet weather there are two large garbage bags in the team bag. One is for the team bag to be kept dry, and the other is for players' jackets. Could the managers please take the bibs home to dry them off.

There is an electric ball pump in the hall at Matthews' Netball Centre. Balls should be pumped to between 8 and 10 psi.

Netballs don’t need to be rock-hard or have the same bounce return as a basketball.

Over-pumping balls will cause either the bladder or the stitching to break and may cause injury to players' fingers.

If any of your equipment is broken or needs replacing please let us know.

Parent Representatives

Please feel free to contact your parent representative or the Club if you have any questions or concerns.
