Term 2 is another busy term in Room 18. In Maths, we have been working hard to read the time on the clock to the nearest five minutes.
The Year 2 students have participated in Bike Education where they have learned how to fit and wear their bike helmets properly. They practised gliding and how to correctly indicate. Another skill was how to change gears and safely brake. The next lesson is going to be about road safety when riding our bikes. It has been exciting to bring our bikes and helmets to school and learn more about using them safely on the road.
We read, “If I Were King” and discussed the coronation of King Charles 111. We imagined what it would be like to be the king or queen and what we would do if we were in that role. We completed some fabulous writing on a scroll and designed our own crown. We loved being king or queen for a day.
We had a wonderful end to Term 1 finishing with the colour run and a fantastic start to Term 2 in Room 19. We have been continuing our narrative writing and have been applying everything we have learnt into some fantastic stories. In numeracy, we are starting to apply the foundational skills that we revised in Term 1 to new and more difficult topics, such as measurement. Recently we learnt about how we can use informal units to measure the perimeter of objects or shapes. To make things even better, Bike Education lessons started last week in Week 2 and will run until Week 5 of the Term. We hope you enjoy our photos!
We learnt all about the Coronation of King Charles 111 and previous coronations, including his mother, Queen Elizabeth in 1953. We also studied the history and drew the Union Jack and found out that the Red Cross is the Cross of St George (England) and the white and red is the Cross of St Andrew. (Ireland). Making crowns with jewels was our final endeavour on the day before the Coronation. We had lots of fun!
