District Sports Association  request for school's support

Mr Furphy attended our District Sports Association meeting last night where it was confirmed that there have been incidents of poor sportsmanship and rudeness towards umpires and volunteers at our interschool sporting events.

Fortunately Newham Primary school were NOT involved in such behaviour.

However our sports association would like all of the schools to ensure their students are aware of the importance of sportsmanship and are committed to making our interschool events pleasant for all. Without the committment of the students, participants such as umpires and volunteers are less likely to support our sporting events.

Please take the time to have this important conversation with your children and remind them of the fantastic job they have done so far in representing our school! We have!

Cross Country- Interschool competition- Hanging Rock

The weather looked like it was never going to clear with non-stop rain on our arrival. However it did clear in time for the first race and with only a few moments of drizzle throughout the day the racing was on!

For a small school we certainly do very well. We have 6 students: Iris, Quinn, Sadie, Chloe, Leo R. & Harvey continuing on to the District event, in Castlemaine.

Well done to all our students on the day!  Every one of them demonstrated exceptional sportsmanship and were keen to try their personal best.

Best of luck to our students attending Castlemaine.

Castlemaine update

As this is being written, students are arriving back at school from the District event, in Castlemaine. Congratulations to all our students! From what we have heard so far, everyone is having a great time and are making it into the top 20!

A little bird has also mentioned that we WILL have students going through to the next level to be held at St Arnauld in June.

We have received confirmation from her mum that Chloe will be one of our students going on to the next level. If we can confirm other names before this newsletter is published we will add them in. However we will certainly update you further in the next newsletter.

Congratulations to you all for your wonderful efforts! Well done everyone!

Parkour

Foundation/1 have really enjoyed our parkour sessions. Cam and Finn have done an amazing job with explaining how our bodies move and how we can use movement safely and effectively. Apart from enjoying the activities, students develop spatial awareness, motor skills, co ordination and turn taking, as well as offering encouragement and support for their classmates.
