Student Led Council

The Captains and Vice Captains have been working tirelessly to set up and start running our SLC. They are working with 16 other students from Years 5-12 in developing a clear purpose and structure for our SLC. The students have started working on projects which fit with the College’s core values and intentions of community engagement and sustainability.

The Senior Years SLC members for 2023 are:

  • Year 12 – Prabhjot, Shanaya, Tamira
  • Year 11 – Daanya, Sean
  • Year 10 – Meesha, Miguelle

We congratulate all students for undertaking these roles and look forward to working with them.

Wynspeak - Public Speaking Competition

On Tuesday 2 May, GNLC was proud to host Round 2 of the Wynspeak Public Speaking Competition right here in the Senior Years building. We were excited to host the event for the first time and to make the night even more exciting for our College, GNLC students won both the junior and senior prepared speech sections.

The Wynspeak competition involves students from 40 schools in Wyndham and surrounding areas and requires students to present a five-minute speech and a two-minute impromptu speech on a short-notice topic. Thanks go to Mrs Geetha Nair who coordinated the event assisted by Year 11 student, Daanya A as the student volunteer coordinator. Our team of student volunteers did a great job, welcoming competitors, taking photographs and arranging the sound and lighting.

Aarav M won the prepared section in the junior section (Years 7 – 9) with his humorous speech on common issues between teenagers and their parents and Prisha N won the prepared section in the senior section (Years 10 – 12) talking about the importance of being true to yourself.  Aarav and Prisha will go on to represent GNLC in the final of the Wynspeak competition in June. We wish both of these students every success as they prepare to compete in the final. We congratulate Shalom B and Meesha H who ably represented the College in the competition and commend all students involved for the excellent way that they represented the College.
