Congratulations to Jasmine Adams -

Kwong Lee Dow Young Scholar

It is with great pleasure that I announce that Year 10 student Jasmine Adams is the recipient of the prestigious Kwong Lee Dow Young Scholars Program.  Jasmine will join a select group of students to receive support and special access to the resources of the University of Melbourne.

Jasmine was selected for this program based on her outstanding academic performance and leadership skills.

The Kwong Lee Dow Young Scholars Program is a three-year academic enrichment program designed to assist high-achieving students in realising their full potential through creating a network and community of students.  These students will have the opportunity to participate in an extensive program of events and activities, including lectures by leading researchers and seminars with world class teachers.

The program was established in 2007 and is named in honour of eminent scholar, leading educationalist and former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Melbourne, Professor Kwong Lee Dow.

I am sure this will be an invaluable journey of learning for Jasmine.

Year 12 Examinations

The Year 12 examinations have now concluded.  My sincere thanks to Mrs Bev Valentine, our Chief Supervisor, and to the other supervisors who ensured the exams ran effectively.  The supervisors reported that our students were extremely well behaved and focused on their exams, which was wonderful to hear.

Year 12 students will be able to access their results and ATAR on the 2018 VCE Results and ATAR Service from 7.00 am on Friday 14 December.

Year 11 Examinations

Year 11 examinations concluded on Friday 30 November.  I have been very impressed with the students’ attendance and positive work ethic during this exam period.  My sincere thanks to Mrs Ellen D’Ambra and Ms Clare Challenger for their excellent organisation of these exams.  The results from these Year 11 examinations are very Important and help to determine subject selection and promotion to Year 12.

Early Commencement Program

The compulsory early commencement program for all 2019 Years 11 and 12 students commenced on Monday 3 December and concluded on Friday 7 December.  Senior school teachers ran classes for the week. The program gives students the opportunity to get a head start with their studies and enables them to complete preparatory work over the school holidays.

2019 Year 11 and 12 students were required to confirm their enrolment for 2019 on Tuesday 11 or Wednesday 12 December.  If you have any questions regarding this process, please do not hesitate to contact the senior sub school office.

Farewell to Ms Nicole Filippou and Ms Clare Challenger

I would like to take this opportunity to wish Ms Nicole Filippou and Ms Clare Challenger all the best for the future as they embark on the next chapter of their teaching career.  They have both made an outstanding and positive contribution to the senior school sub team and will be greatly missed.

Thank You and Best Wishes for the Festive Season

As 2018 draws to a close, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all senior school teachers for their passion, dedication, enthusiasm and sheer hard work in providing each student with every opportunity to achieve their goals.   They are always giving of their time and assistance, and I thank them for their outstanding commitment and the excellent teaching and learning they have provided for the students.  It is a privilege to work with such dedicated and conscientious teachers.

My sincere appreciation and thanks must go to Mr John  Albiston.   Frankston High School is an outstanding school, a school where there is a culture of academic excellence; where every student is given every opportunity to maximise their learning outcomes. There is a dynamic learning environment with shared goals, a sense of responsibility for making a difference, and a culture of continuous improvement. This would not be possible without his support, encouragement and leadership, and I sincerely thank him for his outstanding commitment to Frankston High School.

I would also like to thank the Senior School Leadership Team for their assistance and the invaluable work they do in supporting our students – Mr Simon Cameron (Senior Sub School Leader/Year 12 Coordinator), Mrs Ellen D’Ambra (Year 11 Coordinator), Mrs Carolyn Walsh (Careers Coordinator),   Ms Nicole Filippou (Assistant Year 12 Coordinator), Ms Clare Challenger (Assistant Year 11 Coordinator), Mrs Sharon Koning (International Student Coordinator) and Ms Kirsten Bakker (Student Wellbeing Coordinator).  The drive and leadership of these people is what makes the senior campus the school that it is, and I thank them most sincerely for their tireless energy in ensuring all students achieve their best.

In addition I would like to thank and acknowledge the work of our education support staff – Ms Mindy Fischer (Senior School Office Manager) and Mrs Carolyn McIver (Senior Coordination Administrative Assistant and VET Coordinator).

Finally, I would like to thank the parents and the wider Frankston High School Community for your support throughout the year.  I wish everyone a safe and happy Christmas and festive season, and I look forward to working with you again in 2019.

Ms Helen Wilson

Senior Campus Principal
