Love Your Body Week

In support of the Butterfly Foundation 'Love your body week', staff and students dressed to express or wore purple on Friday 6 September.  Dress to Express was an opportunity for students to express the person that they are, celebrate all bodies, move their body to make their heart sing, compare less and accept more. Donations made on the day will help and support people with eating disorders.

Art on Anson

What an event! The opening of the 13th Art on Anson was packed despite the poor weather late Friday 6 September. Mrs Meers welcomed everyone, before our Mayor, Councillor Reg Kidd officially opened the exhibition with some fond memories and connection to our great school. Did you know that Cr Kidd's son donated a scissor lift that he handmade and gave to the school many years ago? Mr Duncan Auld, Director Educational Leadership, Orange Principals Network (AKA Mrs Meers' boss) spoke about the wonderful commitment that staff, parents and community have to the students at Anson Street School. Everyone was in awe of Mrs Cathy Huggett and the amazing work that she does with the students. Staff who were present told us what their class artwork was  about and how it was  made. Mrs Huggett gave a speech and said that 'it is all about the kids'  and that she is 'so proud of every single one of them'.  The P&C were there in funky chicken t-shirts, selling tickets in an amazing raffle. Mr Auld drew out the winner  Elyce De Boadita, congratulations!

There was a silent auction held for the painting done by stage 5 last year. Tiahna Munday was successful and took home the masterpiece.

We had many guests to the school during the week of the exhibition, most of whom purchased cards with photos of the artworks on them.

A huge hip hip hooray to Mrs Huggett and all of our students! You are stars!

School Spectacular

This year we were lucky enough to successfully audition six students to participate in the School Spectacular 2019 show. On Tuesday 17th September the students went down to Sydney for their first rehearsal. The students had to practice with nearly 200 other students from public schools across NSW. The group have three more rehearsals next term before the live shows in Sydney on November 21st and 22nd. All the students were responsible and respectful during the rehearsals and enjoyed meeting students from other schools.
