From the Principal

Term 3 comes to an end

I have been excited to be back for the past four weeks after a wonderful adventure overseas with my husband. I would like to thank Ms Jodie Pritchard who relieved as Principal during my absence and did a fabulous job with the executive team ensuring that the school continued to run successfully. A thank you also to Mrs Penny Granger from Millthorpe Public School who was Deputy Principal for the term and who settled in very quickly and brought a wealth of expertise to the position. Mrs Granger returns to her position of Assistant Principal at Millthorpe next term and we wish her well for the future.

Today is the final academic day for our Year 12 students. I was delighted to see them participating in our school concert "Channel Surfing" for the final time. Year 12 students will be involved in an exciting program of work experience opportunities, volunteering, day programs, visits to TAFE and various businesses, mentoring, garden and building projects throughout term 4. Today the School Captains and our choir will also represent the school at the Police Remembrance ceremony.

This year has seen many staff changes with two executive moving into relieving Principal positions, four staff on maternity leave and a range of extended leave. I'm excited to be welcoming two new Head Teachers to the school for Term 4.  Mrs Alex Kinsey will also provide additional therapy support  for three days starting next term. In the next edition, we will do a spotlight on each of these new staff members.

Congratulations to the following students who have achieved 100% attendance this term - Lily McGregor,   Bella Donaghy,    Mitchell Howarth, Jackson Uren, Cheyenne Rondo, Dylan Reihana, Alyssa Thomson, Amelia Thomas, Hugh Dickerson and Andrew Button. A special Principal's morning tea will be held in the first week of term 4 for these students. Attending everyday is extremely important to ensure that students are able to get the best out of their education and to keep good social connection with their friends.

Mobile phones are an essential part of people's everyday life, but I ask parents and carers not to text or call students during the day as this interrupts the learning in the classroom. If you need to contact your child, please contact the front office on 6362 4563 and we will be able to get a message to them.

Wishing everyone a wonderful Spring holiday break. I look forward to seeing all staff and students back in a few weeks for an exciting and action-packed Term Year 4, which will include the School Spectacular, swimming carnival, Year 12 graduation, stage 6 excursion to Canberra, Presentation Day and lots of fun, engaging learning.
