Out and About the School

Language Classes

In 2019 Rachael Field our Aboriginal Education Assistant completed her Certificate 2 in Basic Aboriginal language. Rach has a strong interest in helping out students learn about their culture. She has started to work with our younger students in teaching them aspects of the Kamilaroi language.

Year 1 has been learning numbers 1 to 10. They also learned how to say hello (yamma) and goodbye (yaluu).

Library News

Welcome to the Library for 2020! This year we have three wonderful Junior Librarians who are full of knowledge about our Library space and ready to help students in any way they can.

The Junior Librarians are Emily Swain, James Wilkinson and Katie Kingdom. The three of them have already been busy running a variety of lunchtime activities including colouring in, games and puzzles and of course the very popular storytime which involves reading books to some of our younger students.

The Junior Librarians have also been busy becoming familiar with our new Library space for 2020. The general consensus is that it is cosy, inviting and has wonderful air conditioning! So if you are at school dropping off or picking up your children please pop by and say hello!

Stay tuned for more updates and information from the Library in future newsletters!

We still have a few parents who have not logged into the Compass Parent Portal. The Portal will be used a lot more this year and it will become the main source of communication from your child's classroom to you at home. If you have lost your log in details, please contact the office.

Don't forget, once you have logged in on the Compass website, you can download the App to your phone.

The next P&F Meeting will be held tonight, Wednesday 19 February at 5.30pm.

All welcome to join and meetings are kid friendly!

This months meeting will be in the St Xavier's Staff Room - located in the administration building.

We are looking forward to a great year and hope to have some fresh faces with new ideas and input.

Don't forget you do as much or as little as you like.....we encourage all parents to have a say in how we support our children and schools.

End of Day Pick Up

All Kiss and Drop cars can you please have the surname of your children displayed clearly on the passenger visor. This helps the duty teachers identify you and move your child to your car faster. The office is happy to type one up for you if you let them know.

ALSO for YEAR 1 AND 2 parents who collect your children from the classrooms, can you please wait under the tree in the eating area. The verandahs are too congested.

Thanks for your cooperation.
