Interschool Maths Competition

On Tuesday 17th September 55 students from Year 4, 5 and 6 competed against students from other primary schools in the area.  The students worked in teams of 4 collaborating to find the correct answer to 10 questions.  The students stayed at their own school, the questions were sent via a web ex app on our interactive TV. All questions required several calculations and many problems solving strategies.   Students were very excited to work with their friends, explaining and justifying their answers.  It was wonderful to hear the students discussing the best way to solve the problem, asking each other questions and explaining their thinking.  124 teams from neighbouring primary schools competed.  Some of these schools were Roxburgh Rise, Roxburgh Park, Roxburgh Homestead, Aitken Creek, Fawkner, Pascoe Vale North, Newbury, Coburg, Craigieburn South and Willmott Park.

Students used a google form to submit their answers and were able to see their results at the end of the competition.    All teams performed exceptionally well especially ‘The Greenvale Supersonics’ – Adith, Ben, Ahmed and Emmanuel who scored a perfect 10/10 and the ‘Duck-u-laters’  - Omer, Ameer, Hunter and Srimijin who scored 9/10.

All teams who entered should be proud of their efforts and we are all looking forward to the next competition in Term 4.
