As I sit in my office writing this article for the Lantern it is the end of International Women’s Day. When I reflect on the events of this week it has been a celebration of the amazing talents of the young women of PCW.

On Tuesday evening we came together as a College community for our annual Music Festival. This was my third experience of Music Festival and each year I look forward to this event. This evening is a wonderful celebration of the performing arts and I know I have said this before, but I continue to be blown away by the incredible talents of our students.

I am so impressed that this is a completely student driven event. Over the past few months I have seen the performances evolve during the many rehearsals and Tuesday was a culmination of all this hard work and preparation. We are so fortunate to be able to hold the evening at Hamer Hall, a world class performing arts venue. This is a great memory for our students to be able to perform on the stage of this international venue. An evening like this does not flow so seamlessly without the work of both staff and students and I congratulate and extend my sincere thanks to everyone involved.

Destinations Report

Over the summer break our 2018 Year 12 cohort received their first round tertiary offers. 76% of students received an offer for one of their first three preferences. RMIT, followed by Monash University and Victoria University, are the top three popular institutions where our girls will study in 2019.

Interestingly RMIT has been the most popular institution for our girls to study at over the past three years. The health field, predominantly nursing, is the most popular area our girls will commence their higher education studies. Well done graduates of 2018! We are very proud of your achievements.

It seems like yesterday I was enjoying Christmas and now the season of Lent is upon us. The Lenten season offers us a wonderful opportunity for spiritual renewal. I hope during this season through prayer, fasting and almsgiving you are brought closer to God.
