Host a Japanese Student

During the Presentation College Windsor tour to Japan in 2018, we were fortunate to have been hosted by students from Shin-Ai Girls’ High School in Wakayama. We received warm hospitality and had a very memorable stay during our time in Wakayama.
From Thursday 8 August until Monday 19 August 2019, a group of 15 students from Shin-Ai Girls’ High School will be visiting the College and we are extending an invitation to host a student to all members of the College community. Host families are integral to the success of our overseas school tour program. We especially encourage any families whose daughters have experienced a school tour in the past, or hope to in the future, to consider hosting a student.
Homestay is an important part of the visit by the Japanese students and will allow the students to experience living with an Australian family as well as studying at an Australian school. On weekdays, they will attend classes, and of an evening and over the weekend, spend time with their host families. Hosting families may choose to combine with other families to do activities over the weekends.
Hosting a student involves providing meals and any incidentals (e.g. any weekend activities) during the visit. The Japanese students understand that our students have study and other commitments after school and they do not expect to be entertained all the time. They will bring their schoolwork with them to study during the homestay. Normal family routine should continue during their stay. The students can speak English and we will endeavour to match the Japanese student to the same year level and age as the hosting PCW student.
Hosting is a rewarding experience for all involved and an opportunity to develop a life-long international friendship. As we need to finalise host families as soon as possible, please complete the Google form (here) by Friday 15 February. Further information will be provided when host families have been allocated.
Thank you in anticipation of your assistance.
