United Nations visit

Australian Youth Representative to the United Nations -
Kareem El-Ansary
On Thursday 7 March Kareem came to visit PCW and in particular the Year 10 core history students to investigate youth concerns.
Kareem is travelling the country, and asking youth groups what are their interests, how do they feel about youth representation in politics, and their immediate apprehensions. Kareem will make a report on his findings and present this to the UN as part of the Australian Youth delegation later in the year.The girls found his presentation very engaging and thoughtful, their responses guided the session. In their breakout groups the girls were asked to list their top 3 issues of concerns and possible solutions.
Why should listen to young people;
Kareem listed are some of the reasons why we should listen to young people;
- We’re are 50% of the world’s population
- We’re the most affected by the issues and therefore are closest to the solutions
- We have a unique way of looking at problems
- We have a been at the forefront of some of the most important social movements in history
- We will inherit the world of the future
Some of the questions posed to the girls were;
Do I feel optimistic about the future?
- Do I feel optimistic about the future?
- Do I feel represented in politics?
- Do I have the skills to make a changes in the future?
We thank Kareem for his time and we wish him all the best in his visit to the United Nations and his travels around Australia. It was an honour to meet such a passionate, educated, and engaging Australian youth representative.
