Become a 2020 Families & Friends Member
Families & Friends membership is an annual fee of $1 payable via the QKR app. Benefits of being a member include:
- A vote for who is representing you in the core roles, which are determined at the AGM in March.
- A vote in major F&F decisions throughout 2020.
- Access to the F&F communications via Slack, which provides an easy access at whatever level of involvement suits you.
- Access to monthly meeting minutes via Slack.

F&F 2020 Meeting Schedule
The Core team is asked to meet on a monthly basis and every second one of these meetings will also be an open forum for the other members and guests to attend.

19 May - Open to full membership and guests
21 Jul - Open to full membership and guests
22 Sep - Open to full membership and guests
17 Nov - Open to full membership and guests
21 Dec - Final meeting for the year
Families & Friends Fundraiser
As you are aware, Families & Friends' first fundraising event for the year is a Hot Cross Bun drive. Order forms have been issued via Compass and are also available at the office. Payment is through the Qkr app (details provided on Compass), unfortunately cash payments are unable to be processed.
Please have all orders submitted by Thursday 19 March.
All proceeds will go towards the new playground fund.
Coffee catch-up - 10 am Saturday 29 February
If you would like to know more about Families & Friends, or would like to help out, then come along to our Coffee Catch-up at Kettle Black, 50 Albert Road, South Melbourne. It is a great opportunity to meet up with our school community and also to have any questions you may have about the group.
F&F Introduction and Q&A - online Webinar
For those who cannot make the Saturday catch-up in person, this session will be recorded and made available to view online.

F&F Social Event - 6 pm Friday 6 March
All are welcome to attend and meet other parents / carers and families at the school. Please come along to the Coppersmith Hotel at 6.30pm Friday 6 March.
Welcome Picnic / First Birthday celebration SMPPS - 20 March
We have much to celebrate on Friday 20 March! South Melbourne Park Primary School will be celebrating it's first birthday, everyone is welcome.
The picnic will commence after school on the playground deck. It's a BYO picnic, and please bring along a rug / chairs for your comfort. F&F will organise a dessert table for gold coin donations. Please contact your class rep if you are able to bring along any goodies on the day for the dessert table. We look forward to seeing you and your family there!
Reminder: there is no alcohol allowed at any event on school premises when children present.
Bunnings Sausage Sizzle - 21 March
F&F second fundraiser is a sausage sizzle at Bunnings on Saturday 21 March. Planning is already underway but we need more helpers to source materials as well as cook and serve on the day. If you can help please contact Claudette:

F&F AGM - 24 March
Meeting and election of the 2020 Executive will be held on Tuesday 24 March, details to follow.

Family & Friends have been advised that we were successful in being awarded a grant of $1000 through the Department of Social Services Volunteer Grants and Josh Burns Federal MP for McNamara. These funds will go towards the purchase of a BBQ to support our playground fundraising activities.
Last year we raised over $5,500 to support a range of school activities encompassing gardening and composting equipment, kitchen equipment, Wonder Wagons, fruit trees and support for our Winter Lantern Walk and End of Year event. With thanks to South Melbourne Community Chest, City of Port Phillip, Toyota, Woolworths Landcare, Nude Food Day and Telstra Kids Foundation.
